Vector Illustration

This Vector Illustration is of the Chicago Bulls' gaurd, Tony Snell. The Bulls are my favorite team, and Snell is my favortite player; and he is also the creepiest looking player on the team. I really enjoyed learning Illustrator, and this project was a great way to test out what I learned. The title of this illustration is definitely- You Snell That?

Gerald

Don't let his shapely body fool you, Gerald is a World class ballet dancer. The Russian Ballet, Broadway, Dancing with the Stars.... There is no where his skills have not taken him. Here he is in this image performing at the Super Bowl halftime show. This project was great, i thought it was awesome seeing all of the creative creatures the class came up with. I chose to illustrate Gerald; because I was responsible for drawing his sexy gut, and i thought he was all around the most random and funny creature.

Logo Critique


1: Netflix- When I look at this logo the first thing that comes to mind is a big movie theatre. The bright red seems to be the theme of most movie theatres. They all have red floors, seats, popcorn buckets, and it reminds me of the red carpet. The font is big and bold, and really stands out, just like the Hollywood sign.
2:Miller High Life- Also referred to as the "Champagne of Beer", this delectable drink is my favorite beer. It was put on the market in 1903, and the logo has not changed much. Considering that the logo has not changed for over a century, it must be working pretty well. I feel that the target audience is working class, and poor college kids. It's a cheap beer, but it's logo and nickname make it seem like a classy brew. The logo is timeless, and over time has become very well known and recognizable.
3:Nintendo- Like the High Life Logo, this one is very recognizable, and has not needed very much change over the years. This logo is very simple, but the computerized text, red font, and the oval shape make it unique. Any word could be portrayed in that style, but I would still think of Nintendo right away. Nintendo's target audience is everyone, because it is known and loved by everyone. As long as it remains a highly popular game system, I don't think the logo will change.
4:Wu Tang Clan- The Wu Tang logo is not a particularly well known emblem, but is definitely recognized by it's fans. The logo is very abstract, and the bright yellow on the black background creates a heavy contrast. The target audience for Wu Tang when they began was definitely groups of younger, inner city young adults. The black and yellow combo is very appealing, and widely used. Once someone sees the logo, or becomes a fan, the logo becomes very recognizable.
5:Patagonia- This clothing companies target audience is outdoorsmen, or just anyone looking to stay warm. The logo has a very rough and durable style to it, and the color scheme reminds me of a sunset. Patagonia is a seemingly uninhabitable region in the mountains of southern South America. The terrain is rugged and dangerous, but equally as beautiful. I feel that the company is trying to show that their products are tough and durable, but also stylish.  

About Me

My name is Nate Vandercar from Westmont, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. I am a senior at University of Tampa, going for a history major. I am a big sports fan, especially when it comes to Chicago teams (besides the white sox). Besides sports I enjoy cooking, reading, spending time with friends and family, and having a good time. I only have a small amount of experience with digital arts from a high school class, but I have forgotten most of it. Even so, I have really enjoyed all of the art courses I have taken, and I'm excited to try something new.
